Manon Lescaut G.Puccini Immling Festival 2025
The success of the production is, of course, also due to the two leads. With Maria Natale and Vasyl Solodkyy, we are witnessing a true Puccinian dream couple. The American soprano has everything it takes to portray Manon: a magnetic stage presence and a youthful, dramatic voice that, despite its power, retains a velvety softness—perfectly capturing the vulnerability of the character.
Adding to this ideal picture is the palpable chemistry with her Ukrainian partner, who makes a remarkable impression with a tender, velvety “Donna non vidi mai.” Just as convincing is his transformation throughout the opera—from a dreamy student to a Des Grieux scarred by heartbreak and betrayal, ultimately willing to sacrifice everything for love. With a pair like this, little can go wrong. In the end, it’s truly their performance that carries the emotional weight of the opera. (TOBIAS HELL)
